Before discarding damaged contents

• Photograph each damaged item and the area where it was located.

• Record the item description, brand, model, quantity, approximate age, and condition.

• Save purchase receipts, online order histories, manuals, serial numbers, or product photos when available.

• Estimate replacement cost based on a comparable current product rather than guessing from memory.
