Lexington Crawlspace Cleanup: Phoenix Project Progress

Phoenix Remediation & Restoration is making progress on a crawlspace cleanup project in Lexington, Kentucky, following reported flooding associated with a drain backup. This update shares our crew’s work so far: removing old ground cover, collecting and bagging debris, and opening up the work areas beneath the home.
These are in-progress job photos. Additional cleanup, drying, repairs and ground-cover work remain part of the project plan.
Getting beneath the home and documenting the conditions
Our inspection and project documentation identified damaged ground cover, moisture concerns and piping that needed attention. The crawlspace contains low-clearance work areas, ductwork, plumbing and existing supports, making access and material handling a hands-on part of the job.
Removing old ground cover and bagging debris
Our crew has been working beneath the home to pull back and remove old ground-cover material and collect debris. The photos show material being gathered and bagged inside the crawlspace, along with exposed soil in areas where the covering has been removed.
This stage gives the team access to the ground and work areas needed for the next phases. Cleanup is still underway; the exposed soil shown here is an intermediate condition, before new ground cover is installed.
Moving material out of a tight crawlspace
Getting material out is a substantial part of crawlspace work. Our team is bagging removed material and moving it out of the work area, with a utility cart helping transport the load outside. The photo below shows bagged material staged for removal.
A clearer view of the work ahead
The wider crawlspace photos show the ground, existing supports and overhead utilities as cleanup progresses. We are documenting these stages so the project record shows the work beneath the home, including areas that will later be covered by the new vapor barrier.
Remaining scope: repairs, cleaning, drying and new ground cover
The project plan includes replacement of an approximately nine-foot section of sewage discharge line, followed by the applicable remaining cleaning, drying, pea-gravel placement and new vapor-barrier work. The pipe photo below documents an existing connection; it is not a completed-repair photo.
The written scope also calls for HEPA cleaning and antimicrobial treatment of accessible framing, with a new 6-mil ground vapor barrier planned after the preceding work. This update does not mark those items as completed. We will document the later stages as the job progresses.
